New Zealand is being urged to take a stand against Sri Lanka at this month’s Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting, foreign media reported.
The call is being made by Amnesty International, which has sent a deputation and a petition to Parliament today.
Spokesman Grant Bayldon says human rights abuses by the Sri Lankan government can not be overlooked and New Zealand should oppose Sri Lanka’s president becoming the chair of the Commonwealth, the New Zealand media reported.
