New restrictions on election propaganda

The Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya today said that the use of national flag, national symbols, religious symbols, religious flags or images of political party leaders in election propaganda is prohibited.
Any images of respective party leaders can only be used at the candidate’s election office and not in any other manner, he told Ada Derana.
The Elections Chief also said that candidates who are former members of the army cannot use the army uniform or emblems in any election activities.
