Police arrest 75 persons attempting to sail to New Zealand

Police arrested 75 persons attempting to sail illegally to New Zealand during a raid conducted early this morning (February 12) in the Moragalla area of Beruwala.

 

Among the apprehended individuals were 60 males, 9 females and six children while police also seized a bus and van used to transport the group.

 

The raid was conducted this morning at 1am, the Police Media Spokesmans office stated.

 

The suspects are residents of the Valachchenai area of Batticaloa. Police stated that they are scheduled to be presented to the Kalutara Magistrate Court later today.
