Kotte MC member remanded over assault charges

Sri Jayawardenapura Kotte Municipal Council member Danushka Vishwajith, who was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife and three officials of the Mediation Board, has been remanded.

A complaint against the Municipal Councilor for assaulting his spouse on January 27 had been submitted to the Mediation Board.

However, the suspect had attempted to assault his wife once again when the complaint was taken up yesterday (15) while he had also assaulted the Mediation Board officials who had attempted to intervene.

Vishwajith has been remanded until March 28 after he was arrested by Mirihana Police and produced at the Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court.
