Another 143 drunk drivers nabbed

The Police Department says that 143 motorists have been arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol in inspection carried out within 24 hours as of 6.00am this morning, while a majority of them are motorcyclists.

The Police Spokesman’s Office stated that 86 motorcycle riders, 37 three-wheeler drivers and 20 other drivers are among those arrested.

So far a total of 1,631 drunk drivers have been netted by the police since the commencing of the special operation on April 10, aimed at curbing traffic accidents during the festive season.
