In a narrow escape, two trains traveling towards each other on the same track stopped before it collided between Galoya to Trincomalee, a few hours ago.

According to a source from the Railway Department, the trains had been traveling on the same track due to a signal defect.

It was reported that the railway signal system, in the said area, handles from the Anuradhapura railway station.

The train accident was prevented as the officials from the control room who noticed the circumstance, informed the drivers through telephone calls. In return the drivers of the Colombo and Trincomalee bound trains had immediately stopped the rains, Ada Derana reporter said.
