August 1, 2014   05:10 pm

The Meteorology Department says that there is a possibility to increase monsoonal showers in the southwestern parts and thundershowers in the drought prevailing Northern and Eastern parts of the country.

According to the Met. Department, showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Showers will spread to the Northwestern province too.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize the damages caused by lightning activities.

Strong winds at times (up to 60kmph) can be expected over the central hills.
