PICTURES: Electric animal trap kills one in Dimbula

A 64-year old person died in Mahaweligama, Dimbula this morning after coming into contact with an electric animal trap. 

The body of the deceased person which was entangled in the trap was recovered by a police team attached to the Hatton police at around 6.00 a.m.

“Whoever set the trap had obtained electricity illegally from a nearby lamp post. It is still unknown who set the trap,” a police officer said.   

The remains of the deceased have been sent to the Hatton Base hospital for the post-mortem examination. Deceased W.A. Karunaratne was the father of two children, who was a resident of Vijayabahu Kanda, Mahaweligama.
