The wet weather conditions experienced in some parts of the country will continue to prevail with heavy showers and possible strengthening of winds, the Met. Department says.

The showery weather caused by atmospheric disturbance is expected to continue further over the South-Western parts of the country. Showers may occur in the Western, Central, North-Western and Southern Provinces and heavy rain falls of more than 100 mm are also likely at some places. Temporary localized winds are possible during thundershowers.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. Showers are also possible at other sea areas around the island. Winds will be Southwesterly and the speed will be 20-40 kmph.

The general public is advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damage from caused by lightning. Naval and fishing communities are also requested to be vigilant.
