Inmate suicides at Polonnaruwa Prison

An inmate of the Polonnaruwa Prison has committed suicide by hanging inside a lavatory, early hours of this morning.
The body was first seen by a prison guard, who found the inmate hanging inside the washroom at around 4.00 a.m., had then immediately alerted cops at the Polonnaruwa Police station.
According to the police, the inmate was pronounced dead upon admission to the Polonnaruwa General hospital. The inmate had a pending court trial against him, in a case where he had been charged with a murder of a woman in Hingurakgoda.
The autopsy of the deceased will be conducted today.
