Cop injured in arrest scuffle

A policemen team has been attacked in Munneswaram, Chilaw, in wee hours of the morning, when they attempted to raid an illegal gambling centre.
A police Sub-Inspector along with another person who were injured following the attack were admitted to the Chilaw General hospital.
The injured person has been identified as one of a suspect who was engaged in gambling, according to the police.
The other suspects, however, have managed to flee the scene and the Chilaw police have initiated an investigation to apprehend them, police sources said.
