Immediate steps will be taken to fill several vacant positions in the United National Party (UNP) including the post of Deputy Leader, says the party’s General Secretary Tissa Atttanayake.
He stated that a decision regarding this matter will be taken at the UNP working committee meeting scheduled to be held in the first week of September.
Attanayake stated that Hambantota District MP Sajith Premadasa’s name has been nominated once again for the post of UNP Deputy Leader and that they have directed their attention to the matter.
Meanwhile he said that individuals who had left the party or were removed from the party due to various reasons will be provided with an opportunity to give reasons before an Appeals Board headed by Dr. Karunasena Kodithuwakku, in order to rejoin the UNP.
