Wariyapola assaulting incident, Selva remanded

In a new turn of events in the controversial assaulting incident in Wariyapola, the individual, who was subjected to assault by a 21-year-old woman, was remanded by the Wariyapola Acting Magistrate, today (31).
A senior police officer of the Wariyapola police told Ada Derana that Robert Dansalage Chandra Kumara alias Selva was remanded until 3 September when he was produced before Magistrate S. Rajapaksa.
Selva had been undergoing treatments for over one week at the Kurunegala Teaching hospital following an ear injury he reportedly sustained during the attack.
New twists in the case emerged lately with the reports of the young girl, Thilini Amalka, was planning to file a Fundamental Rights (FR) case against the Department of Police.
The girl was arrested by the Wariyapola police, on 27 August, and later released on a personal bail on the same day. The girl argued that her arrest was unlawful.
