Chinese man arrested with Wallapatta at BIA

A Chinese national has been arrested by Customs at Katunayake Airport this morning for attempting to leave the country with 13 kilograms of Wallapatta chips worth over Rs 10 million.
The 43-year-old man was preparing to board a flight to Shanghai via Kuala Lumpur when he was arrested by Customs officers, Sri Lanka Customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.
Investigations are being carried out by Customs Bio Diversity, Cultural and National Heritage Protection Unit along with Airport Customs Staff, he said, adding, that this is the 7th such detection this year.
