September 2, 2014   04:15 pm

The Met. Department says that several spells of showers will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Northwestern and Central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts. Thundershowers will develop at a few places in the Uva and Eastern provinces during the afternoon or evening.

According to the department, strong winds at times (up to 60kmph) can be expected over the central hills, Northern parts of the country and over the sea areas off the Northern, Northeastern and Eastern coast. Winds speed can strengthen up to 70-80kmph at times in the Bay of Bengal.

On the apparent southward relative motion of the Sun, it is going to be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka during 28 August and 07 of September in this year.  The nearest towns of Sri Lanka over which the sun will overhead tomorrow, are Halmilewa, Ambanpola, Polonnaruwa and Passikudah about 12.10 noon.
