Army soldier dies in road mishap

A 33-year-old Army soldier who was engaged in patrolling in Iyakkachchi area in kilinochchi was killed after his cycle was run over by a van, this morning.

According to the police, the accident occurred as the van had crashed into the cycle from behind on Palai to kilinochchi road.

The soldier who sustained life threatening injuries following the accident was pronounced dead upon admission to the Palai Base hospital.

The deceased has been identified as R.D. Suminda who was a resident of Kurunegala. The van driver will be produced in the kilinochchi Magistrate’s Court, today.
