STF bust large scale ‘Kerala Ganja’ transporting racket

Police Special Task Force (STF) personnel have arrested a bus driver and conductor along with marijuana worth over Rs 2.5 million after uncovering information regarding ‘Kerala Ganja’ transportation racket using long-distance luxury buses.
The ‘Kerala Ganja’ is being transported from Jaffna to be distributed in various partsof the country including Colombo, STF said.
A special search operation was carried out last night, according to information received by intelligence officers of the STF Jaffna camp.
Passenger transport buses were searched at a roadblock in front of the Periyamadu STF camp on the A-9 road, leading to the detection of 13 kilograms of ‘Kerala Ganja’ ingeniously hidden inside a luxury bus traveling from Jaffna to Colombo.
The ganja haul is estimated to be worth over Rs 2.5 million while the driver and conductor of the bus have been arrested and handed over to Kanagarayakulam Police for onward action.
