All propaganda activities should end after midnight 17 Sept - EC

All propaganda activities in connection with the forthcoming Uva Provincial Council election should cease after midnight of 17 Sept. Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said.
Approved Elections Offices which have already been established on the basis of polling district can function till the midnight of 18 Sept.
Similarly, in the notified central election offices or in any office which is permitted to be established in the district for a candidate or in the residence of the candidate display of promotional material, placards, posters or decorations are prohibited after the midnight of 17 Sept. All the candidates and supporters are therefore requested to remove all such display material and decorations after midnight of 17 Sept, Government Information Department says.
According to Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE), some 341 election violation incidents have been, thus war, with regard to the Uva polls. Some 241 complaints were reported from Moneragala district while 82 complaints were reported from Badulla district. There were 18 complaints common to both districts.
