UPFA on top as total Postal Vote results released

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) received 8,810 postal votes (46.52%) in the Badulla District, narrowly beating the United National Party (UNP) which polled 7,274 votes (38.41%).

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) obtains the third highest postal votes in the district with 2,087 votes (11.02%) while the Democratic Party (DP) receives 517 votes.

This places the ruling party on top after the tallying of Postal Votes in the 2014 Uva Provincial Council Election after it also obtained the highest Postal Votes in the Monaragala Administrative District.

The UPFA received a total of 5,632 postal votes, over 56 per cent, while the United National Party (UNP) had obtained 2,800 votes (27.9%).

The JVP obtained 1,001 postal votes in the Monaragala district while Sarath Fonseka’s Democratic Party (DP) came in fourth with 395 votes (3.94%).
