President’s UNGA speech: Indian VCK party to stage protest

Indian political party Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) leader Thol Thirumavalavan siad they would stage a protest in Chennai tomorrow (23) against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse addressing the U.N. General Assembly, the Hindu reports.

Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi leader Thol Thirumavalavan said the Narendra Modi government was against Eelam Tamils. “Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, it seemed a Modi government would help the Tamils get freedom. Now, it follows the policy of the Congress” that headed the ruling coalition at the Centre.

On a previous occasion, General Secretary of Indian MDMK, Vaiko urged the United Nations to withdraw Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s invitation to deliver his address at the General Assembly.
