VIDEO: Kahatagaha mine workers stage protest 1,100 ft underground

Some workers attached to the Kahatagaha Graphite Lanka Limited which is a fully government owned company under the Ministry of industry and commerce have staged a protest inside the mine around 1,100 feet underground.
The protest was staged citing several demands including non making of casual labourers permanent, life insurance for workers and several other demands.
Ada Derana reporter said that some 70 workers have joined in the ongoing protest. They have refused food and boycott duties from this morning.
The Kahatagaha graphite mine is some 2000 feet deep which makes it is the deepest mine in Sri Lanka. The mine is located in North Western Province in Dodangaslanda in the Kurunegala District.
