Man caught with explosives in A’pura released on bail

An individual, who was jailed after caught with a stock of explosives in Anuradhapura during last Poson festival, was enlarged on bail by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court, today.

Magistrate Yuresha de Silva released suspected Nalim Hussain Mohamed on cash bail of Rs.25,000 and two personal bails of Rs.200,000 each.

Acting on a tip off the police arrested the suspect along with the stock of high power explosives that were being transported near the Clock Tower in Anuradhapura, on 13 June.

The police have seized ten kilograms of explosives and 500 detonators and some other equipment from the possession of the suspect.

According to the police, the arrest was made following a tip-off received by the DIG in charge of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa divisions.
