The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) today seized 200,000 kilograms of coriander, estimated to be worth over Rs 10 million, which had been artificially coloured in order to be re-released into the market in the Kalmunai area.

The stock of coriander, unsuitable for human consumption and discoloured, had been transported from Pettah to Kalmunai, where it was put through a chemical process.

The artificial coloured coriander is then transported back to Colombo and distributed to retailers, the CAA said.
