Attack on S’gamuwa students: Suspects released on bail

The seven suspects arrested and remanded in connection with the recent attack on a group of Sabaragamuwa University students, engaged in a Satyagraha near the Pabahinna junction in Balangoda, have been released on bail.
Balangoda Chief Magistrate G. Lalith Kannangara ordered the suspect released on a personal bail of Rs 250,000 each while the case was postponed to March 10 next year.
Some 12 students engaged in the Satyagraha campaign at Pambahinna Junction were attacked by a group of men wielding poles and sharp objects on October 10.
On October 20, five suspects including a member of the Imbulpe Pradeshiya Sabha surrendered to Balangoda Police over the assault incident.
