Two held for bid to smuggle gold

Two suspects have been arrested at the Katunayake International Airport for attempting to smuggle gold worth over Rs 2.6 million by concealing it in the waist of their pants.
The two men were arrested by airport customs when they were preparing to board a flight (UL173) to Bangalore at around 1.25am today (Oct. 31), customs spokesman Leslie Gamini said.
Four pieces of gold, weighing 528g and worth around Rs 2,637,000 were tucked into the waist of their pants.
Sri Lanka customs is conducting further investigations.
