Maithri non-attending for today’s Budget reading

Opposition Common Candidate Maithripala Sirisena today said that the country has witnessed an extensive transformation within the last 72-hours since his announcement to contest President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the forthcoming Presidential election next year.
The observation was made after the Common Candidate and a group of UNP Parliamentarians met and got the blessing from Most Ven. Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Thero, the chief prelate of the Asgiri Chapter of the Siyam Sector.
Sirisena added that he pledge to maintain a well disciplined, fair and honorable election campaign with the support of all opposition parties and religious leaders.
While giving gratitude to Opposition Leader Ranil Wickramasinghe and all other supporters for the given opportunity to contest as the Common Candidate, Sirisena assured to equally observe the matters faced by Sinhalese, Muslims, Tamils and all other races and ethnic groups.
Sirisena said he will not be able to participate for the vote on the third reading of Budget 2015 which is scheduled to take place in Parliament today, as he is to visit the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi of Anuradhapura, this afternoon.
