Shots fired at UNP office in Harispattuwa

Gunshots have been fired at the United National Party (UNP) office of Kandy District MP Mohamed Hashim Abdul Haleem, located in the Mawilmadama area in Harispattuwa.

The Police Spokesman’s Office said that the Katugastota Police Station has received a complaint stating that the shooting took place last night and that 3 bullet holes can be seen at office.

No casualties have been reported from the shooting while no suspects have been arrested, police said.

M.H.A. Haleem is the UNP organizer for the Harispattuwa electorate.

Similar incidents were reported in several areas including Beruwala, after former Minister Maithripala Sirisena announced his candidacy for the upcoming Presidential Election as the Common Candidate.
