Several roads closed in Anuradhapura due to wild jumbo panic

Two individuals were trampled to death by a wild elephant in Religious Town area in Anuradhapura, early hours of this morning (26).
 
The police have identified the deceased as a 62-year-old person and a 28-year-old security guard who were residents of Basawakkulama in Anuradhapura.
 
According to the police, tragedy occurred at the Walisinghe Harischandra garden near the Malwatu-oya river bank.
 
The police have closed several roads in Anuradhapura Religious Town, and attempting to drive away wild jumbo to the forest with the support of wildlife officials and residents of the area.

The victims according to the police had died instantly following the elephant attack and their bodies are kept at the Anuradhapura Teaching hospital. The postmortem examination of the deceased will be conducted, today.
