Prevent use of gov. property for propaganda activities - EC

Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya has issued a special circular with respect to the forthcoming Presidential polls requesting the authorities not to use government property for election propaganda activities.
The circular has been issued to all district secretaries, ministry secretaries, department heads, chairmen of constitutional councils, commissioners and as well as for chairmen of government corporations.
The circular has prohibited all the government bodies to utilize government property, buildings, vehicles or any other materials for election propaganda activities during the Presidential election which is about to take place on 8 January, 2015.
The circular has too requested not to transfer or promote any governmental officials during this time period.
The Department of Police also postponed the transfer of some 10,000 police officers scheduled to come into effect on 1 January, 2015 due to the election, last week.
