The Department of Meteorology says that the possibility for rain is very high as the atmospheric disturbance is seen in the vicinity in Sri Lanka. Showers or thundershowers are expected to occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and in the Hambantota district.
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly during the evening and night while heavy showers (about 150mm) are also likely at some places.
Occasional showers or thundershowers will occur over sea areas around the island particularly over the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Trincomalee and Pottuvil.
Strong winds (up to 80 Km/hr) can be expected at times over the island and over the sea areas around the island, the Met department said.
