Due to the atmospheric disturbance  in the vicinity of Sri Lanka the possibility for rain and the strong winds during thunder showers is  very high, the Met. Department predicts.

Showers or thundershowers with strong lightning activities will occur over  most parts of the country and the sea areas off North and East coasts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-central, Eastern, Uva and Central provinces and in the Hambantota district.

Strong winds (up to 80 Km/hr) can be expected at times over the island and over the sea areas around the island, the Met Dep warns.

Occasional showers or thundershowers will occur over sea areas around the island particularly over the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Trincomalee and Pottuvil.
