Four arrested while digging for treasure at Maha Oya

Four suspects have been arrested for engaging in illegal excavations in the Weeranthalawa area in Maha Oya with the intention of unearthing buried treasure.

The suspects were arrested by Maha Oya Police, following an operation carried out on information received.

Various equipment found in the possession of the suspects at the time of the arrest have also been taken into police custody.

They are to be produced at the Dehiattakandiya Magistrate’s Court while Maha Oya Police are conducting further investigations.
