Heavy showers in Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces

The Met. Department forecasts that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and  in the Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or evening.

“There will be showers at several places in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Hambantota district. North east monsoonal winds can strengthen up to 50 kmph at times over the island and surrounding sea areas,” the Department said in a statement.

Sea areas around the island will be rough too at times as the winds can strengthen up to 50-60 kmph at times.
