Sri Lanka Air Force flight with 35 persons that scheduled to depart from Kathmandu to Colombo last night has been delayed due to a technical snag, the SLAF Spokesperson said.

The first segment of the emergency rescue and relief contingent of 44 Army personnel and 4 Civil Medical Consultants, aboard an SLAF flight, left the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport for the earthquake-struck Nepal on Sunday morning (26) in order to assist ongoing rescue and relief operations in the densely-populated Kathmandu valley, devastated by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake which has reportedly claimed at least 2000 lives.

The flight was scheduled to carry 35 Sri Lankans who are currently in Kathmandu.
