Sri Lanka Air Force flight, with 46 persons including Under-14 women’s football team, departed from Kathmandu to Colombo on Tuesday (28) morning, the SLAF Spokesperson said.

Earlier, the flight was delayed due to a technical snag.

The first segment of the emergency rescue and relief contingent of 44 Army personnel and 4 Civil Medical Consultants, aboard an SLAF flight, left the Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport for the earthquake-struck Nepal on Sunday (26) in order to assist ongoing rescue and relief operations in the densely-populated Kathmandu valley, devastated by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake which has reportedly claimed at least 2000 lives.
