Ex-constable arrested for impersonating an ASP

A person has been arrested for allegedly impersonating an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) during a procession (perahera) of a Buddhist Temple in Badulla.

The suspect had been wearing cloths similar to an ASP’s uniform and pretending to be a special police officer assigned duties at the religious event.

He was arrested following a. inquiry carried out based on a suspicion, the police spokesman’s office said.

The arrested suspect is said to be a former Police Constable who had been interdicted. He is to be produced at the Badulla Magistrate’s Court.
