Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that the country’s democracy is in jeopardy as the law enforcement officials are biased against them.

The observation was made at a special event held at the Kadirana Wijayrama Temple in Negombo, last evening (7).

“A conspiracy is underway to chase behind the politicians of the former government and put them behind bars. A special police unit (the Financial Crimes Investigation Division) has been formed, in this regard, which only functions if a directive is issued by the Prime Minister,” he said.

Rajapaksa also asserted that the Supreme Court and the Attorney General’s Department should pay their attention towards this matter.
