The police on Thursday (02) arrested three cops attached to the Cinnamon Garden police for allegedly soliciting a bribe from a young couple in a bid to refrain from taking legal action for behaving indecently in public.

The police officers including two Sergeants and a Constable were arrested following a complaint lodged with the Cinnamon Garden police by the couple this morning, a police officer said.

The police officers have reportedly demanded and accepted Rs. 2000 from the couple, who were inside a car near the NCC ground, Colombo 7. The cops have solicited the bribe not to take legal measures for behaving indecently in public, it was reported.

The suspects will be produced before the Colombo Magistrate, today.
