JVP criticises this year’s budget

November 23, 2015   05:14 pm

The Budget presented at the Parliament last Friday (20) by the Finance Minister is no different from the previous Budgets, JVP Propaganda Secretary Vijitha Herath says.

He made the observation at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (23).

“We are witnessing the same thing what happened during Rajapaksa’s time,” Herath added pointing out that this year’s Budget has too failed to address the issues and challenges faced by people.

Herath also severely criticised the government’s decision to charge heavy import taxes from vehicles.

“During the election time, the United National Party (UNP) vowed to reduce the prices of vehicles. They had TV advertisements. But with the new Budget proposals, people will even find it difficult to maintain a vehicle,” Herath said.
