Heavy traffic in Borella due to protest

November 27, 2015   02:52 pm

Severe traffic congestion has been reported in the Borella area due to a protest march by a large number of university students.

Organised by the Inter University Students Federation (IUSF), the five-day protest march which commenced from Kandy is scheduled to end near the Parliament Roundabout today.

A court order was issued this morning preventing the protesters from traveling towards the Parliament from Polduwa Bridge.

The protest is being held based on several demands including the shutting down of the private medical college in Malabe and uniforms instead of vouchers for school children.
