Heavy showers expected today

The atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, possibility for rain over the island and neighboring sea areas is still high, the Met. Department says.

Therefore, showers or thundershowers will develop over most parts of the island after 02.00 p.m. Heavy falls (about 100 mm) are also likely at some places.

Showers may occur at several places along coastal areas in the western, southern and eastern provinces during the morning too.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
