January 9, 2016   01:18 pm

MP Hirunika Premachandra, who was arrested by the CCD in connection with the abduction incident in Dematagoda, has been granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s court.

Premachandra was arrested by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD) this morning (09).

The Attorney General had earlier instructed the CCD to arrest the Colombo District MP in connection with the incident.

Police had sought the AG’s Department advice on the arrest of Premachandra over the alleged abduction while it has been reported that sufficient evidence has been found regarding her involvement in the incident.

On December 21, a 34-year-old man was abducted in the Baseline Road area in Dematagoda and assaulted by a group of individuals who had arrived in a Land Rover Defender which is reportedly owned by the MP.
