Sajinís elephant picked up by wildlife officers

An elephant allegedly belonging to former MP Sajin de Vass Gunawardena have been taken into custody by several officers of the Wildlife Department today.
The elephant, around 15-years-old, was at the Hirewatta Buddhist Temple in Ambalangoda and was taken care of by a mahout employed by Gunawardena.
The elephant was taken into custody by wildlife officers over an issue with the permit and is to be handed over to the Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home.
It has been reported that the elephant had been taken care of by the former MP for around 10 years.
