Eight Indian fishermen apprehended by coast guard

A total of eight Indian fishermen from Kottaippattinam in the Pudukkottai district were arrested by Sri Lanka coast guard personnel on charges of poaching into Lankan territory waters. 


And it was the first incident that the Indian country boat fishermen of the Pudukkottai district were arrested by SL authorities, it was reported.


The arrested fishermen and their confiscated boats were taken to Kangesanthurai and they were handed over to the authorities attached to the department of fisheries and aquatic resources of Kangesanthurai for onward action.
