Met. Department predicts showers today

Showers or thundershowers will occur over most parts of the island today (19) after 2.00 pm, the Met. Department predicts.
Fairly heavy falls (above 75mm) are also likely at some places. According to the Department of Meteorology, in the morning showers are expected in the Eastern and Southern coastal areas.
Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
