Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places over most provinces of the island particularly today (21) after 2.00 pm, the Met. Department predicts.

According to the Department of Meteorology, few showers may occur in the coastal area extending from Galle to Pottuvil via Matara and Hambantota during the morning too.

Fairly heavy falls (above 50mm) are also likely at some places.

Temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers are expected and the public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning.
