Case against Dhammaloka Thero: CID seeks AG’s advice

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) today (28) apprised the Colombo Magistrate they sought advice from the AG in connection with the case against Venerable Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero.
This was informed when the case in which Dhammaloka Thero is suspected for alleged possession of an unlicensed elephant calf at his temple in Polhengoda was taken up for hearing, Ada Derana reporter said.
The CID also informed the Court it has concluded investigations with respect to the case.
Ven. Dhammaloka Thero of Alan Mathiniyaramaya Temple in Polhengoda has categorically denied allegations leveled against him with regard to the two and half year-old elephant calf found kept inside the temple premises and has maintained that the elephant had been abandoned at the temple following a pageant held in 2014.
