A police interference into investigation on the tense situation erupted at the Parliament is acceptable, Skills Development and Vocational Training Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe says.

The observation was made at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (05).

Minister Samarasinghe also severely condemned the incident which left UNP Kegalle District MP Sandith Samarasinghe with minor injuries on Tuesday.

Minister Chandima Weerakkody addressing the reporters said May Day rally held in Galle was a proof that a larger crowd gathered at Samanala Ground than the rally held in Kirulapone.

He also went on to say they had no intention of making decisions that would cause the party split, and added that they would work together with the MPs who attended the Kirulapone rally in a bid to safeguard the party.
