Gold worth over Rs 60m seized at BIA, three detained

Three Sri Lankan women arriving from Dubai has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport with over 10 kgs of gold slabs, the Customs Spokesman said.


“Three passengers arrived by EK 650 from Dubai were arrested at the BIA in the morning (0900hrs) by the Customs Narcotics Control officers at the Green Channel with more than 10 kgs of gold slabs and jewellery valued at Rs. 60 million. 


Suspects are three Sri Lankan passengers arrived from Dubai. Futher investigation in the case to be handed over to Customs Central Investigation Directorate,” the Spokesman said in a statement.
