Rohitha Abeygunawardena released on bail

The Colombo High Court on Tuesday (24) granted bail to MP Rohitha Abeygunawardena who is charged in a non-declaration of assets case.


The Parliamentarian was released on a cash bail and four personal bails of Rs. 10 million rupees each when the case was taken up for hearing before Judge Bandula Karunaratne.


The Bribery Commission filed action against Abeygunawardena in the non-declaration of assets case on January 07. The case was filed over allegations of undeclared assets estimated at 41.2 million. 


According to the commission, the politico has acquired this property as a bribe during 2004-2006.
